10 minutes’ walk to secluded, sandy beach with natural harbour, excellent for snorkeling, diving and fishing. You can see ancient Roman ruins under the sea and take in the stunning sea life. This local beach has beautiful geological formations and in the warmest summer months (July, August & Sept) even the deepest rock pools and underwater ravines heat to bath water temperatures! Use snorkel, masks and foot plimsolls supplied in villa to explore.
15 minutes’ drive to The Korineum international-standard golf course with superb academy for beginners, challenging greens, excellent restaurants, cafe and Thai Spa facilities. Golf lessons can be booked in advance of visit.
20 minutes' drive to the truly romantic village of Bellapais with its ancient Gothic Abbey. The village was the home for some years of Lawrence Durell, the author, who wrote about life in Cyprus in his book Bitter Lemons. He mentions passing the time drinking coffee under the Tree of Idleness in the village. Bellapais has some excellent places to visit for lunch or is the perfect romantic setting for an evening meal.
35 minutes’ drive to historic and beautiful Castle harbour town Girne (Kyrenia) with its lively nightlife, casinos, hotels, bars and a large selection of good restaurants along the harbour. A must is a visit to Kyrenia Castle, located in the harbour, to see the oldest shipwreck (c. 5000 years old) in the world and learn about the ancient civilisations that occupied the island before the time of Christ.
Visit the dungeons and torture chambers, if you dare! Walk along harbour, away from Harbour Castle, to the Rock’s Hotel for its excellent fish restaurant and a superb Chinese restaurant called The Dragon.
20 minutes' drive to private sailing club. Yacht masters courses can be taken for as little as £350 for a week.
15 minutes’ drive to excellent private beach clubs, for example Acapulco, – entrance fees around £10/each. Great for kids days out - brilliant facilities, nice eateries and lots of fun in the water park.
1hr drive to The Karpaz Gate, Europe's newest and most well-equipped private marina with duty-free port, excellent fish restaurant, bars and other facilities. Watch the super-yachts come into port as you enjoy a G&T.
45 minutes’ drive to the cliff-hanging castles of Kantara, St. Hilarion and Buffavento. Experience the stunning views of Northern Cyprus from these ancient vantage points, be prepared to climb many steps.
45 minutes’ drive to historic fortress harbour of Famagusta. You must visit the medieval quarter and experience what was once the Mediterranean’s largest natural harbour and a major trade port. Famagusta has an attractive medieval quarter with Christian churches, that are now mosques, a large market square and lots of little shops, restaurants and bars. A Very nice place to visit.
45 minutes’ drive to the spectacular Salamis; an ancient and very large Roman Port, with an outstanding amphitheatre, beautiful mosaic floors, many dwellings, the remains of old baths and Roman latrines!
50 minutes' drive to Nicosia (Lefkosa), the capital city with many historic buildings, shops and restaurants. The only divided city in Europe, so take your passport and cross the Green Line by foot at Ledra Street. Experience the contrasting cultures of North and South and build a small city break into your holiday or travel around the South of Cyprus as part of your holiday.
